Level 1 water restrictions across greater Sydney have been announced for the first time in almost a decade, starting from Saturday, 1st of June.
But how does this affect your car washing options?
For those of you who wash your car at home, water restrictions will impact how and when you wash your car:
- Equipment allowed includes water buckets or hoses fitted with trigger nozzles
- Wash times are restricted to before 10am and after 4pm
- Hard surfaces, such as your driveway, are not allowed at any time unless it is a health and safety issue
- The same rules apply to businesses.
For residents who do not adhere to the above rules, a $220 on the spot penalty can apply, while for businesses, the penalty will be $550. Fines begin on September 1st, after the 3 month grace period.
